Lemon Pound Cake to Die For
April 30th, 2008

My friend Suzy in Nashville sent me this Lemon Pound Cake recipe, and it is slap your momma good. I’m surprised I didn’t give myself salmonella from licking the spoon….(swoons).

Cake:
3 sticks (12 oz.) of unsalted butter, softened
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/3 cups sifted cake flour
1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder

Better than Valium
April 29th, 2008

Behold, the Hefeweizen! And yes, you should say that like a demented fischweib.

Simons and I had a mini-date last night, which involved DVRing his cousin on Antiques RoadshowĀ  (He was the one with the railway book! Did you notice he actually thought of something new to say to indicate his suprise? We were so proud!)Ā  […]

My Milkshake Brings All The Boyz…
April 28th, 2008

Want to know my key for recovering from a lot of running? Milkshakes and about 12 cupcakes.

Take a cup of plain or vanilla lowfat yogurt (the less sugar the better), add a banana, about 4 or 5 strawberries, a handful of blueberries and a teaspoon of vanilla, plus a quarter cup of skim milk. Blend […]

He thinks like a man.

His dimples.

This weekend, I loved all of […]

“No, but it’s almost a full moon!”
[Saying serenity prayer.]
The ranger also mentioned that ticks (shudder) and poison oak are rampant down there. […]

Sweet Cracker Sandwich!
April 17th, 2008

Did you know that the IRS expects 30% of a freelancer’s salary? I didn’t. Which explains why I blithely neglected to put any money away all year, grasshopper that I am.
I also didn’t know that you are required to pay taxes throughout the year or you pay a fine. I thought everyone just paid in […]

My life is over.
April 4th, 2008

Simons weighs 6 pounds less than I do. How did this happen? Where did I go wrong?
I’ve been feeding the boy nothing but cheese and butter and pastry-enfolded meat for almost two years now, and goddammmmmit, he has LOST weight.
This just goes against all of my personal standards of femininity. And the laws of physics […]

April Fools
April 1st, 2008

First, have you seen gmail’s April fools page? Totally awesome.
The people at Blue Bottle Coffee had their milk in a non-dairy creamer bottle for April fools, causing people to freak out. They calmly assured everyone that it was 2% organic from free range cows.
Ahhh….sweet San Francisco.
